Here’s What’s Happening At Our PEC Winery During Lockdown:
We’re getting this question a lot – “so, is Hillier Creek Winery going to open this year?”.
Well, to put your worries at ease, YES! In fact, we’re open right now! In this article, we’ll tell you how you can get your hands on our awesome wine selection during the lockdown!
Hillier Creek Winery
Our winery, tasting room and vineyard are not currently accessible to the public. But, don’t worry! We plan on providing the full Hillier Creek Winery Experience with you online via our blog and social media channels.
Here’s what’s happening this month!
Ana, our wonderful winemaker, is preparing the white wines that we harvested last fall for bottling. This is always such a fun time of year because we get to bottle up some of your favourites!
But this year is especially exciting because we are preparing our 2020 Tasting Room Exclusive, Summer Breeze, for purchasing!
This is a low alcohol (6.5%) Chardonnay with a light effervescence (aka BUBBLES!). We made a small batch of Summer Breeze last summer for our wine lovers to try and we couldn’t keep up with it in the Tasting Room! It was such a huge hit that we decided to have some bottles made up for the online store this year.
Ana is also beginning the process of storing our red wines, Gamay and Cabernet Franc, for the wine cellar to spend some time in oak barrels.
Why Are Wines Put In Oak Barrels?
- Adds Flavour To The Wines (including vanilla, clove, smoke etc.)
- Allows For Oxygen To Enter The Wine Slowly (perfecting that smooth taste that we love!)

Even though our winery and vineyard are not currently accessible to the public, due to COVID-19 restrictions, our ONLINE STORE is open and taking orders – 24/7!
Here, you can order all your favourite wines from Hillier Creek Winery! Whether you’re a Rose lover, a Riesling fan or a Chardonnay enthusiast – we’ve got an incredible selection for all of our wine lovers to appreciate!

Hillier Creek Winery – Events
Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, we are currently unable to host events at Hillier Creek Winery. Fortunately, we can still reschedule events that were affected by these regulations as well as schedule upcoming events when we are given the opportunity to do so.
We have had a number of requests for weddings in the summer and fall of 2021, and also into 2022, which we would love to accommodate once we are permitted to.
If you’re interested in booking a wedding with us in the future, we have a comprehensive wedding package available. We can also arrange a tour date of the facilities when permitted.
Hillier Creek Winery – Vineyard
For the last three weeks our awesome vineyard crew at Hillier Creek Winery have been focused on de-hilling the buried vines. This process involves digging up the vines that were buried in the ground throughout the cold, winter season.
Now that the vines are de-hilled, the crew will start to tie the vines to the trellis wires. This allows the vines to grow up straight and to be more easily managed by our crew throughout the growing season.
